BSkyB Meeting Centre
Contractor: Lend Lease
Client: Stanhope/BSkyB
Architect: Amanda Levete Architects
Construction of an office building is far more than the physical aspect of walls, floors and ceilings. With the BSkyB Meeting Centre – also known as The Hub – there was a real desire to ensure environmental concerns were considered, and to make a stunning working environment for all those working within. Lucas was called upon by main contractor Lend Lease to bring its particular expertise to the paint finishes.
Situated in the Osterley area of West London, the building has been designed to promote open plan working in a warehouse style. This building sits alongside the broadcasting giant’s new headquarters and main television studios. The building has over 7,000m2 of floor space spread over three floors and houses offices, a restaurant, conference suites, shower and changing rooms.
Muralplast MSP (Multi Surface Paint) was specified for the project as it can be used on surfaces not usually able to take a coating without specialist extensive pre-treatment and priming. This includes plastics, glass and galvanised surfaces.
For this particular project, the MSP coating has been used on all the galvanised metalwork in the exposed ceiling areas of the building allowing an ‘industrial’ theme to be incorporated into the internal design. MSP has the added advantage of not requiring a priming coat for any of the surfaces ... speeding up installation work with no detriment to the finished appearance.
